Donations are always welcome, both for the Society`s general purposes and for the Society`s Special Projects Fund, which has in the past funded Alabaster research at the College of Arms, and assisted in purchasing for the Society Dr William Alabaster`s book. When sending a donation, you can say for which purpose you wish the money to be used.

How to join

Membership Form

The subscription year for the Society starts on 1st September.
Members outside the UK may save on bank charges by using the services at Genfair, at a slightly increased rate to cover Genfair`s charges. It may be possible to use PayPal: contact the Hon. Sec. (address above) for details.

For 2009-2010 it remains at £8.00 per household (UK); £8.00 overseas, but £9.00 if you use Genfair www.genfair.com

The 2008 Gathering has come and gone, and we are not yet able to take bookings for the 2011 event. A date has been chosen: it is the Easter weekend, the last-but-one weekend in April, 2011. Do not book any travel or accommodation until this date is confirmed. It is given here so that you can "pencil it in" to your diary. Details of what you may have missed in 2008 are on the Gathering page.

You can print out a membership form to accompany your cheque:  (printer friendly): Membership Form
Please do print extra copies for your relatives!
If you wish to pay for more than one year at a time, or include a donation, you are very welcome to do so, but please make it clear how the money is to be divided. The Treasurer`s contact details are in the section above.
Also, please make especially sure that your membership number is included as there are many people with the same surname!

Standing orders and internet banking (UK): The amount to pay is £8.00 per year on 1st September.
If you use internet banking, after logging in to your current account click "Payments and Transfers", then "Manage Payments". Click the Society`s standing order entry, then "Edit Details". Sort code and account details are available from the Treasurer or fromLaraine. Again, do please quote your membership number as several members do have the same surname!

Please email the Hon. Secretary to make sure your contact information is kept up-to-date, if you are not sending the form by post.

The Alabaster Chronicle

After several issues edited with style and panache by Sheelagh Alabaster, the Alabaster Chronicle is now edited by Laraine Hake, whose address is given above. Unfortunately, the Chronicle does not write itself -- it would be nice if it did -- so the Editor certainly welcomes your articles, news, pictures, and information.

The Chronicle contains a popular "letters" section (which appears on this site as "News from Around the World") for which Laraine Hake also welcomes your own Alabaster-related correspondence and pictures.

Data protection: authors and correspondents are advised that material and information they provide is deemed to be for publication unless clearly stated otherwise, and that they should be aware that all contents of the Chronicle and the website are visible to non-members of the Society. Apart from that, we do not sell on or pass your contact details to anyone outside the Society.

This website needs information too! it has been put together by Ray Williamson      to whom please send your digital ideas, literary contributions and pictures for the website. Digital pictures should be in .jpeg or .gif compression format and no larger than 800 x 600 pixels. Text should preferably be in plain text or html. "Email"-type format is fine.
